GL1100 PVC Manifold and 34-3 outta box Carb

Doesn't look like much of a risk really. Looks pretty clean no visible wear. Might need to loosen linkage some as it looks like it's been sitting a long time. Great deal.

does the ethanol affect the furniture grade pvc??? or any pvc

Been using PVC for a manifold since December, I did not paint original manifold so I could watch it closely. I take it apart every so often to check for structural integrity. Holding up fine. If you build this manifold a support under the cross should be used to hold weight of carb, and the weight of storage box that rests on top of Air Filter...No problems so far....and manifold only cost about $30.

"PVC is resistant to many alcohols, fats, oils and aromatic free petrol. It is also resistant to most common corroding agents including inorganic acids, alkalis and salts. However, PVC should not be used with esters, ketones, ethers and aromatic or chlorinated hydrocarbons. PVC will absorb these substances and this will lead to swelling and a reduction in tensile strength"

This is what I found before building mine, sounds good enough.

I don't expect it to last forever, probably will last like rubber hoses would, but I expect to get my moneys worth out of it. People have used PVC intakes for years on other types of engines.
If you want something that will outlast you, it would need to be metal. My next manifold will be of the vw alumninum center section and stainless steel grab bar type, but I couldn't afford that right now, its over $100 in parts to make one of them. Even with them you'll have rubber couplers and gaskets somewhere usually, which will need replacing at some point.

We are heading to Hot Springs this weekend on both bikes, about 600 miles round trip. Should be an excellent test of PVC conversion, cause it is gonna be hot. I lowered idle to 1020, and bike runs really good, and mileage is close to 40 mpg.

Just got back from a 600 mile round trip to Hot Springs and surroundin' area for Labor Day Week-End. Me and the Lady I let ride my other bike left Saturday morning. As always, Yellow 82 1100 with stock carbs, & Black 81 1100 with PVC Manifold and a 34-3 PICT carb. Both Bikes ran perfect, not a Hic-cup on the trip. Single Carb mpg was 39, excellent acceleration and power for the steep climbs in the Mountains north of Hot Springs. Cruised 55-60 mph whole trip, except in the mountains where it was curvy and steep........Oh Yeah, We had FUN.

I'm glad to hear its working well and on a huge trip too, awesome. Maybe one of these day's my bike will be done and I can finally enjoy my copy of your manifold. My weekend involved putting a new water pump in, one step closer to a finished bike...

Fix'n to take it off and finally paint the manifold.......I was waiting till I was sure it would hold up.....and It has made the grade.. over 1200 miles on this set-up....and have not had problem at ALL>>>>>>>

Ever thig is runnin great, so we decided to try something new. We have camped evey way you can imagine for 35 years, but never on motorcycles. So we are headed on a campin trip this weekend since the Louisiana weather is sposed to be cool.......The most fun is always gettin' ready......Heading to Jefferson Texas to camp in the swamp on the Caddo River........

I've never camped from a bike either.

The main thing is to enjoy and have a good time.
