It seems that the HID's have issues, premature failure.
Mine is over 2years old on Red without any timer circuit to keep the bulb on while cranking :good:
I did have a failure with the cheap kit fitted to the Rats Nest ($12) which didn't have a battery feed and just plugs into the original headlight wiring. I prefer the battery feed kits as they reduce the current going through the starter interrupt and headlight switches

I think the hid's are somewhat of a gamble, especially when I see one kit for $150+ and another for $29 with similar specs.
I would still like to put an hid in but I'll research them much more closely and I wouldn't buy a high priced one without a 3 year warranty minimum.

Even though it is 6000k where my preference is for 4800k
Does this kit require any mods to to the faring to install?

You need to have room for the black ballast in the fairing and a good battery supply lead. On the Rats Nest I have just tapped into my accessory ignition feed that is already in the Vetter fairing. I intend to include a good battery feed (when I next remove the fairing) into the original Vetter plug as their are some spare wires/ circuits.
