1500 should have a dipstick already.

Yep under the plastic on the right side. You can buy a chrome one for it but it's very expensive and you only see it during oil changes and when you check the level between(my level has never changed between oil changes even when the shifter seal was leaking).

I realize I have a dip stick... a chrome one,,, no thanks... I was just wondering about an oil temp gauge... It would be nice...
Hmmm now there's an idea. I wonder if a meat thermometer could replace the stick part of the dipstick? :read:

maybe a throw back to my racing days... I just thought it would be nice to know... I got this a couple months ago and can't ride it for medical reasons,,, I do not know how hot the bike runs... thats all

I would invest in an infrared temp gun if you want to link your water temp gauge to actual temperatures. They are relatively cheap now and you can use them for other diagnosis.

the GL1500 runs I guess at normal temp... the guage runs about 1/4 to 1/3 up from dead cold... I have read farther and temp is in OK range... guess I will drop the temp gauge idea... thanks all

Your concerns are valid, I was just curious. Sounds like she is running just fine. I ride in 112F temps and higher most of this summer here in Vegas and my gauge barley goes over 1/2 so I think your fine. :good:
