Does anyone have both a GL1200 and GL1100 that could check to see if a 1200 coolant reservoir fits into an 1100? I need to make a modification to fit a 1200 fuse box into my 1100 and the coolant tank is in the way.

Here is the fuse box sitting in the 1100:

Here is a 1200 setup:

It sure seems that a 1200 tank might fit?

Strap an old bottle on the frame, :headscratch: & run a hose like the rat bike's do, you can see the level without opening the glove box. :hihihi:

jerry likes to stay very close to original .....hmmm the way the shelter works on 1100 will probably be a problem even with a 1200 tank i bet ...im just guessing ..but i think unless 1100 tank can be modified ..id say the 1200 wiring junction box will have to go elsewhere .....

Something tells me the mounting isn't going to work because of how the 1200 bottle wraps around the frame. I can take a look later this evening to make sure.
Thanks Brian!

Thanks Joe! And yes, I try to stay close to original and try to keep modifications to look or at least appear original.

Could it be made to fit... sure, but the bend in the 1100 frame and the vertical piece where the 1100 coolant tank attaches would make it difficult.

The 1200 frame is straight and moving the 1200 coolant tank to a straight portion on the 1100 frame would make it difficult to get the tank shelter on if you were able to get the coolant tank to fit.

Finally got a chance to try out the 1200 tank. Sure enough Brian, you were right, it will not fit without modifying the frame and even then it still will not be in the right place. It was worth a shot. :crying:

Simplicity is the key to good design. :good: Was on my first shop teacher's desk, made a lasting impression on a 12 year old kid. :hihihi: Loved the idea of the overflow bottle when i saw it the first time many years ago.
