I am in the process of replacing the springs in my gl1100 shocks.

The bumper was very squishy. My question is the damper has a catch when compressing it. Could the bumper have put some of the goo in the damper?
Since the damper can not be disassembled--How can I get the goo out of the damper?

Could I place the damper in some gas, Mean green, mineral spirits.... to get it out?
What would I use?

Thank You for any help.

That's a good reason for new dampers, black goo is probably oil & rubber bump stop from the top of the damper, my old dampers were in much better shape, & glad I changed mine out. :good: Your call do it how ever you want, as its your bike, & finances are always a factor. P M me if your interested in a set of or two of 1200 dampers
