On my recently acquired (because I can't really say new) 1989 GL1500 I feel every bump in the road. Is it the tire pressure? I think I a Dunlop E3 because I can read “Elite 3” at one place & I know yesterday I saw “ E3”. But my question is if I'm riding by myself, it says in the owners manual 36 psi & 41 psi with a passenger. Will it make that much difference & is it correct for the E3 tire?

And one other thing it says, is that you can run the rear air shocks at 0 if you are riding by yourself. And you can run 57 psi if you need to with a passenger. I have the shocks at about 15 right now because I don't want to damage the shock because of the age. Will it hurt anything to run it down to 0 psi?
TNX, Jim

I run 60 psi in the Rats Nest atm as I beleive the rear springs are sagged and need as much help as they can get, once they lose 5 psi they seem to bottom out.

e3's seem to cause my wing to wallow when under inflated so 36/41 is what always put and try and keep in my tires.. I think running the shocks at o psi will cause them to bottom out and cause more harm than good plus your wing will again handle poorly. you are never going to smooth out every bump in the road regardless to how much or little air you have in the shocks or tires

I'm not talking about bumpy roads, just the streets here in Chico (Nor Cal) & I can feel every bump but you did answer my question or concern about damaging the shocks.

See how much air you have in the front shocks. AKA forks. Too much will give you that feeling.
Good idea. I didn't think to check the front shocks. I'll do that.

Good question. I've only had the bike about 2 weeks now.

Have had to upgrade the suspensions on every one of my wings. Factory's suspensions, as well as seats, are all too soft & cushy for my taste. Like mine a little more like a sports car's ride & handling, tight in the corners, & over bumps, not so soft & cushy like stock.

Any more pressure than 35 pounds in the rear shocks gets very stiff for me, I run 25-30 pounds. I run what Detdrbuzzard runs I think it's 41 or 42 in the tires(E3s). BTW, at that pressure I've never had that annoying tire road noise.
