I've driven in Thailand, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Guam, Canada, Europe, and of course the USA, but don't have a clue about driving in Oz.

How congested are the roads away from the cities?

Is fuel easy to find away from the cities?

Drive on the right or left side of the road?

I believe the main highways are fine, but what are the secondary roads like?

Inquiring minds want to know. :moped:

the driveways are rather bad LOL
LOL!

Yes dreadful!

With a country with a similar land mass to the continental US without Alaska as you can imagine there are all sorts of different roads. Most of the population is on eastern coast with plenty of roads and traffic if you are in the cities and not so much in the country. Traffic in the cities is much less than LA but freeways are not as big. If you head into the outback sealed roads and fuel can be an issue. Steering wheel is on the right side so we drive on the left side.

I don't think I'd want to ride a motorcycle right off when visiting any place the sides are reversed.
I'd have to drive around in a car for some time to get used to it some.
My mate teaches motorcycle students and he had a great young guy come out from Norway and get his license within 3 days. He then purchased a motorcycle and rode and drove for the 6 months that he and his wife were here in Australia. My mate set him up with a piece of string, bailing twine etc on his left handle bar to remind him which side of the road to keep to which helped keep him safe :good:

I don't think I'd have much problem there. I'm used to passing on the right.
Lol, yeah I experienced first hand in the passenger seat how you drive :smilie_happy:

I know how you feel it seems like the fast lane here is the one closest to the curb, how I loved the German Autobahns where you only used the fast lane when you were going fast :good:

I loved the autobahn in the late 70's. I had a right hand drive citroen while I was there. Fun shifting left handed.

Handy skill to have training others to drive standard trans cars. They can learn the footwork first.

i didnt have too much trouble driving in the US or Canada. roundabouts were .....interesting. :headscratch:
but after experiencing LA freeways, i am no longer afraid of crocodiles or snakes. i can stare down a lion in the wild and ( if i had to ) i could wrestle a bear.
once you have been on one of those roads , everything is easy. i remember landing back in Melbourne and driving down the Tullamarine freeway... seemed like a country
road. :smilie_happy:
