I don’t want to start a mudslinging thing, but has anyone ever had a bike, or a car for that matter that they just ended up hating. For me it was a 1939 Harley that I bought back in the 60s, that old piece of junk taught me to cuss trying to keep it running.

A 1984 Ford Escort. My new wife brought it with her into the marriage with her. It spent more time in the shop than it did on the road. Turned out there was a small wire on the back side of the carb that wasn't completely broken, but broken enough to cause the intermittent problem we were having with it. When that was fixed, the timing belt and water pump needed to be replaced... Did that and then the engine was making a weird whiny noise so it was time to get rid of it. The was the best thing we ever did!

A Fiat X19.. tinkered with it every week or at least once a month, always something.
I cant remember a bike but I had an SR500 that would kick back and make me cuss.

Caddilac with the 4.1 motor. It'd run great in the driveway and idle all day. 20 yards out of the driveway it overheated every time. I traded it for an old chevy pu truck.

I had a 1999 Ultra Classic trike project and the fuel injection had a hiccup in it, ran awful I was happy when it got repo'ed. :yahoo:

The only vehicle that really sticks out as hate worthy was a 1990 Chevy Blazer. Mechanically the drivetrain was fine but everything you can imagine otherwise was defective including the LCD dash repeatedly. Even the paint hated that thing and came off at only two years old. It was stolen and after the theft damage was "repaired" by insurance it was even worse than before. Traded it in on a 1993 Ford Explorer which was it's polar opposite and was absolutely flawless in every sense of the word.

As they say: Some cars are built on payday Friday or hangover Monday.

I don't know about me hating it, but I had a 1972 Yamaha XS650 that seemed to have it in for me. Every time I wasn't paying attention, that stupid thing has me on the ground! I finally got rid of it after it gave me a whoopin in the middle of a corner, I still have gravel in my side from that one!

This is a little off topic (excuse me) but your yammy story somehow reminded me of a crazy horse I had.
It would qualify, Dad bought it for us and it had evidently been abused badly. He was so skittish he either bolt suddenly into full gallop or throw you at a change in wind direction. I suffered many a scrape and bruise because of that schitzofrenkic horse.

#2 My Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham throttle stuck after a restart in a fast food drive through... it spun a bearing, reducing it to the most beautiful paper weight you ever saw.

#1 Hyundai Accent GT. After just one Vegas summer the AC wouldn't work even after replacing every component under warranty, a new water pump that cost $300+(because it was the GT model) AND TA DA, one week after it was paid off the oil pump went while on the freeway. Yay!

Honorable mention(because no matter what she put me through I loved this car) 1970 Dodge Charger, rod through the side of the 440 Magnum one hour after purchase... my fault, I was 16 and wanted to go 150mph(max the speedo), jumped time in high school parking lot, key at the end of the cam sheared off on my way to Dallas to buy Rolling Stones tickets, worn distributor that made setting the points nearly impossible and a tranny that never worked right.

~O~

i had onetoo randy ...the most good looking car ever 1970 R T 440 six pack charger....would not race good no traction at all ...smokes up tires like no other.....mine lost a fight with a fork lift...dam near cut it in to...loved it

Me too,17 yrs young leadfoot
68 red and black Charger

Massacred the engine and 727 tranny multiple times street racing.

MGB Convertible I brought back to life, most fun car I ever drove,,,,,,but drive it 2 hours, work on it 2 hours.....Lucas Electrical system a nightmare,,,,,,Bolt sizes are not Metric, not Standard---they are British Whiston. Biggest challenge I ever Faced but I persevered, but thinkin' about it---- I can't cuss it cause it taught me patience.

Brit's stuff seemed to all have Lucas junk electric's. :cheeky: Replaced all of it with American stuff, that took care of that issue, :good: but too much trouble to ride any distance. Just not like the Jap stuff, that's what killed em for years, guess it's better now. :whistling:

1965 Opel Kadett. Took 2 days to get thru an intersection from a stop. On the highway going downhill could get to about 65, but would be doing about 35 when you got to the top of the next hill. Biggest hunk of junk you ever saw.

I've had a dozen or so cars, usually I run all mine into the ground before getting something else.

Most of them were pretty good but by far the absolute worst was the Cougar. Not sure of the year but that damn thing had nothing but problems with power steering. The genius designers routed the power steering hose inches from the exhaust header which burns thru it. It handled like crap too, maybe it had bad springs but under power the right rear dipped and left front rose like...a lot. Good power but too much for its body design which was virtually uncontrollable in a rear slide out.

Next was a Capri. Terrible rear suspension had you bouncing up and down in your seat on the freeway lol.

Another was 63 Ford 150 pickup. What a beast. Manual drum brakes and manual steering and stick. Driving city streets really beat you up fast.

Had a 72 Coupe deVille. Loved that car and zero complaints. I miss the dial climate control, awesome cruise control, and ride like your on air at 90+ mph.

Dasher diesel was great.
I'd drive it to Portland to visit my sister with a brick on the gas pedal both ways. No power but it still got over 50 mpg. Started blowing oil into the intake from the crankcase vent. You'd be going along at 65 then suddenly it would run away and a huge cloud of smoke would blow out the tail pipe. Had to let that go. Wished I had the means at the time to swap in a rebuilt.

We now have an 05 Suburban with 120,000 miles in excellent condition we bought new. This ones a keeper for awhile.
My other car is an 06 Chevy Express 2500 extended van. I think this one will run for a long time.

'79 xs 650, the darn thing vibrated soo bad that a trip across town was as far as you wanted to ride it
in the early '80's I bought a '77 vette, it was a theft recovery car found in a chop shop. there was nothing wrong with the drivetrain and the only thing missing was the glass and the interior, the motor and trans were unbolted but had not been removed from the car. I put it all back together, the car was baby blue and I found a white leather interior to put in it. it was a good looking car only problem was it was a cop magnet. one Saturday I was talking to my neighbor tony, told him I was going to drive to my aunt's house ( about half mile away ) stop at the store then once home we would see what trouble we could get in. I was going to take the fiat 124 spyder but decided to take the vette because it had not been started in a couple weeks, I got pulled over pulling out of my driveway and no I wasn't doing anything stupid other than driving a vette

I guy I worked with years ago had a Corvette, decide to see how fast it would go on interstate 5 between San Francisco and LA. Out ran the CHP patrol aircraft, unfortunately he didn't outrun the CHP radio. He said they clocked him at 170 mph and it cost him a ton of money.

i couldn't tell you how fast my vette went, I never got to drive it on the expressway. I once got stopped seven times in less than two hours, the last cop asked me where I was going and my reply was " to the hardware store to get a for sale sign! "

currently have a buick 3.8,,, can't get the square tires off it,,, when the drive/axles are loose coming out of the tranny,, may not be a viable fix,,, idk,, still chasing it
