I always put the side stand down first and dismount on the left side. I don't know if I could even dismount on the right side on the side stand.

Interesting question.
Interesting result so far also.
In right-side traffic countries (like US and most of the world), mounting from right seems safer.
For that matter, the kick stand should also be on the right side due to the road crown.
I often feel unsafe to park my Oldwing on the kick stand. It is almost vertical and about to tip over.

Who started putting kick stand on the left?
British?

Shift pedal location is unified to the left because of US laws.
I wonder why they didn't move the kick stand to the right and also made it legal requirement.

Couldn't of been said better.. :good:
I did park Val underground at the Doc's office close to a wall on the left side so I had to climb off the right and it was a pita.

Well the reason I asked is because nearly every time I see a Harley rider get off, they get off on the right, which is the high side like us. I've riden a couple Harley's and granted they sit lower but getting on and off from the right just feels wrong.
Is the right side an unwritten Harley rule or something?

I mostly mount or dismount form the left side but there are occasions when I need to mount or dismount from the right

When you put the side stand down, the left side is lower than the right.

Makes it much easier to mount/dismount on the low side.

Either one, I've come to a complete stop and fell over in both directions.

Sounds like me also even though I think I still favour the left, even Val did as well when I was nowhere near her.

Left sider always, feels weird otherwise. But you know it's cold outside when we start these kind of polls.

What's the worlds fastest color?

For me, when I put the kick stand down and stand up, I just find it easier to swing my left leg over to the right side rather than the other way. If I was shorter, maybe that wouldn't be the case.

No HD unwritten rule I know of, but maybe they're not tellin me cause I own a Wing, haha! On occasion I'l utilize the right side, but normally the left, just habit like a horse.
