Just curious because this is my first wing. My car gets about 25 mpg my RC51 tends to get around 35mpg (fuel injected). And my brothers R1 gets about 50 (commuting).

I am just curious what kind of mileage my big carbureted flat 4 1100 will get as I did by it to cruise with.

Mad Dog your RC51 would probably get closer to your brothers fuel economy on the R1 if you rode it the same. The CBRs use heaps more fuel above 5000 rpm, but 7000+ is where the fun starts. Plus 5000 rpm is only 120 kph in top.

My brothers bike is 9 years newer and twins are known for poor mileage. Mine starts to pull at 5000 and pulls all the way up to 10k. Lots of torque.

40 seems good for a 1100! I would be happy if I got that! I wonder if the weight I am removing from mine would affect this at all?

My mates Moto Guzzi Brevia 1100 twin gets similar mileage or better than your brother if he is cruising.

My CBR gets about 32 mpg if I behave. 300 kilometre range on 22 litre tank ( about 187 miles).

It looks like that Moto Guzzi is not nearly as tweaked. The RC51 is basically a detuned race bike. I little over 100 miles a tank (about 35-40mpg) is normal for it. Plus mine is tuned and geared down -1 front +2 rear ( about 9mph on the speedo).

Makes me miss my old F4i's. Those little Fi 600's got great mileage!

Usually when cruising at about 60mph I get about 45/6mpg - town work sends it down to low 30`s. Last year we toured Scotland doing just over 1200 miles in 6 days and averaged 41mpg but Scotland is one hilly place.

The CX500 does a similar mileage but considering how much smaller and lighter it is , it makes the Wing more sense to use, and after a lot of soul searching I have sold it and am soon selling all the spares I have left - after I have sorted out those that I can use for the Wing.

Okay, that does it! I have been reading about it but never paying attention, but those numbers grabbed my attention  . How much ATF to a tank full of gas?
