Can I use ATF in my car to clean up the fuel system? I am worried about the catalitic (sp) converter. Not sure what is in the little plastic bottles of injector cleaner but it must be OK for modern cars.

Nothing in it I know that will harm the catalytic converter. Maybe if you used a lot it might get oily in there and burn though. It will change how the fuel burns so may confuse some computers but I doubt it. Gas quality varies a lot. The newest vehicle I've put it in so far is 2003 Cheby canobeer.
I put it in my 2010 Honda CRV. Gas mileage went from 29 mpg to 36 mpg and the little 4 cylinder seemed to have a lot more pep!

So I guess my question still stands. Can I use ATF in a modern car with a catalitic converter? The cleaner would be OK for the injectors and combustion chambers, not sure what the converter would do with the oil laced exhaust. The O2 sensors might also react.

Someone else told me that they used it in their Subaru and I have used it in my 02 and 07 Foresters without any problems so far.

No lead additives in ATF it should burn pretty much completely with the gas. Unless you put in way too much there is very little chance of any accumulation in the exhaust. I toss in a quart every other fillup on my cars and trucks. No problems in ten years.
