Sunday I was tinkering with the monocarb conversion (that I still can't get to run below 2500) and needed a few small electrical parts so I rode the Eliminator to the Radio Shack. While looking for a parking place what should I see but an early 80s Interstate parked. The guy saw me eyeing his bike and waved me into his space. We chatted a bit. He said he rode it to Erie this summer (we're at the opposite corner of PA) and usually rides 8000 miles a year on it. He bought it for $400 a few years ago and only got a carb cleaning and new starter to get it going. He claimed he's heard of Goldwings running 100,000 miles and still having crosshatch in the cylinders.
We swapped numbers and I told him I'd give him a yell when I got mine running. I might have found me a riding buddy! Oh and I did invite him to this forum.
