the otherday we was out on the 83 , speed limit was 65 , i was doing about 70 according to my Speedo , i met a cop going in the other direction , he flashed his blue lights at me , but kept going , never turned around........ but my question is , back some years ago when i bought a new motor cycle ( GT750 Suzuki ) in the little hand book it showed how much the speedo was off...... the GT750 showed faster than you was really going, by about 5 to 10 mph . i guess i just figured these GL1100 Goldwings was same way. be nice to know . . just wondering . :laptop:

:headscratch: Speedo? You mean ya'll have one that WORKS? :nea:
I have yet to be singled out on mine, and I've actually passed a few Cops at speeds(indicated) that would normally get me arrested... But I have noticed that all 3 speedos I've had on this one since I've had it are within 3-4mph of each other, judging by the tach vs. mph.

With the 19" wheel on the front of the Rats Nest ( it had an 18", don't ask!) it is almost spot on to the GPS or maybe a little faster than indicated.

When Dan came to Vegas we were talking about speedometer accuracy and milage claims.

I am sure you guys managed to talk about other things, like wild native fauna ( Vegas Showgirls) :smilie_happy:

Saw a few of those, :hihihi:

I rarely pay attention to the speedometer. The important thing is to keep up with traffic and stay safe. The speedometer in my Rangers says 45mph when I know I'm going close to 70mph when it works at all. On the bikes I do watch the tach.

I keep running my dash cam which has a reasonable size speed indicator in the lower rh corner ( showing 2kph in this photo)
A little harder to see in full sun mounted on the Rats Nest but it does allow some easy correlations between Speedo, Tacho and actual GPS speed when you have a GPS signal.

i thought most bikes show a little faster than they are really going, MAYBE I was like i was when I got my Last Speeding ticket.... i was driving through Bristol at about 3 am , minding my business .... when i saw blue lights behind me , i pulled over , the Cop said .. whats your hurry ??? I said , I ain't in no Hurry ... he said you was driving 64 mph... I said so ???? he said the speed limit here is 35 .............................. :smilie_happy:
