my plan was to head home after mackinaw but it was late in the day, the sun would be going down soon and with deer on the move we decided to motel it another night so jim called the wagon wheel hotel in st. ignace, mi. but they were full, we ended up getting a room in Cheboygan, mi. so we hopped on us-23 for the ride there. once we got checked in we rode downtown and stopped at a small bar / restaurant and had bread pudding, turbojim wanted to go out on the pier for a sunset pic but the bread pudding was just too good for him to put down so we missed out on the pic of the sunset so we went and got some other pic's

after leaving the power plant we headed south on m-65 then took us-23 and m-13 into Bay city, mi, it was time for some food. the restaurant turbjim wanted to eat at was really crowded and so was the restaurant next door so we found another big boy restaurant to have lunch at. once finished eating we pretty much parted ways so turbojim could make his way over near port huron, mi. I decided to stay on m-13 and see the city of Zilwaukee, mi. but I missed my turn and ended up in Saginaw, mi. the pic's were taken on the south end of bay city, sorry about giving you guys the finger

I took m-13 south then took m-81 east before hopping on I-75 south for home. traffic in flint, mi was coming to a stop and stopping was the last thing I wanted to do so I took m-21 into downtown flint then took Saginaw st. out to Grand blanc, mi. from there I took I-75 south and arrived home about 14:50. a great weekend of riding with and being shown a few places by trubojim, thanks buddy

Nice trip! Seems to be a lot of murals in Mich. We were in northern mich a couple years ago, beautiful place.
I don't know if there are a lot of murals in Michigan but I seem to find a lot of them in my travels. i'm just starting northern Michigan adventures and plan to do another one next year along with another route 66 adventure through ill.

Great trip William! Always a pleasure to read!! :clapping:
thanks but now I need to find something to do this winter, tintop adventures are fun but not like being on the mighty ST 1300 or the wing

I literally had a Michigan map open in another window and was jumping back and forth between it and your narrative. There is no question that you've planted a seed and that I'll now have to make the "shore tour" a destination. That's not a trip I want to hurry, so I will make sure that I'll have several weeks to do it right.

Thanks for the blow-by-blow. The detail is such that folks like me who've not run the area feel like they're missing something. (We are!)

+1 on the great trip reports. It's bad enough that you set such a high standard William with your photos but now it's seems like a professional travelogue is required as well. :smilie_happy:
I think I need to spend more time riding by myself or just another mate to improve my ride reports. Unfortunately or fortunately we seem to spend more time in pubs than museums, sightseeing, etc when we are riding. :whistling: :salute:

I still need the west coast from ludington, mi. south to new buffalo, mi. ill have to keep a note of that and see if I can get it done next year but I'm glad I've encouraged you to make tracks for Michigan's west coast

I would say that 98% of my riding is by myself so I can stop when I want or go as fast or as slow as I want. I missed a few photo opps over the weekend because I didn't want turbojim to have to wait for me. so while turbojim took me on some roads I had never been on before I would have taken more pic's on the road I had been on before if I were by myself. if you are going to do a ride report take a note book and pen so you can write some of it down ( I still do this sometimes ), the phone is my camera and could be used to take notes also

I'm not known for expressing myself well so lately I've been trying to improve on my writing by being more expressive. I was a math guy in school and while I had good grades in classes like English it was more work to get the same grade I got in math

I was in Flint yesterday and it was not very nice. Spittin snow. I think that if had more than just a couple of months of riding weather I could live in Bay City. Nice write-up.

i like bay city myself but if I were to move up north I would like to be somewhere nearer to lake huron or out near idlewild. been raining around these part since Monday so I guess a visit to flint wasn't much fun, ever stop in frankenmuth

Nice ride! Nice narrative! I look forward to the next one :)

By the way, you have a picture of a head (ie bust) in a field, any ideas about it?

turbojum spotted it so we back tracked a few hundred miles to get a better view for our pic. turbojim said the guy that made it has many other metal works in the area, I remember hearing something about them on UTR Michigan but don't remember the guy's name that made them
