It's like trying to find chicken's teeth unless you are willing to take out an ownership loan to buy one.
Anyone out there privy to a copy of a decent service manual for an 80 GL1100 Standard? Got one but it is only 150 DPI and loses resolution when you open it big enough to use it.
thx in...
This device is wrapped into the harness of my 1980 GL1100. I am creating a completely new harness off by reverse engineering the old one. I have no idea what this one does or if it needs to be replaced.
It has STANLEY printed on the top of it and is not quite 1 inch by 1/2 inch.
Any input...
I have replaced cdi boxes with used off an 82, supposed to be good. I have new coils and new plugs. I had spark a few days ago but no fuel. I changed the filter and gas lines. I also pulled the top off the fuel filter and cleaned that up. I now have fuel pulsing out the 'out spout' of the...
I just tested mine today on an '80 GL11. I got 1.5 both by testing at the end of the pigtail that connects to the cdi and St the 2 terminals your wires connect to. I hope it means they are good.
Cheers
I read on here somewhere that the coils should test around 3 ohms on the multimeter....am I wrong.
Here are the settings on the meter and the terminals that I tested from. These are new coils.
I now have no spark and the fuel pump is pissing dry.
thx
Correct Joe. 3 and 4 were the only one that would fire so I switched the coil feeds and 1 and 2 were the only to fire....1 bad cdi. Now to try find one that won't break the bank.
Finally getting down to what may be the end of this particular issue. Why this broken wing will not stay running. 1 and 2 are not sparking. Installed new coils, changed line and filter from petcock to pump. re-epoxied the cdi boxes.
This all made a difference. It ran with no choke for a few...
I assume this could be the problem I have been posting about. Although both coils were split (replace with new) it still starts at full choke and dies after I decrease choke to normal and never starts again.
Just pulled these off my '80 GL1100. Drying out possible moisture now. Will put multimeter on after cool.
These obviously bare connection should be buried in epoxy, right?
Cheers
Is anyone out there aware of a safe ignition coil alternative. The AW82-TR1 that is on my 1980 GL1100 are had to find unless you are willing to mortgage your house. :beg:
Thx in advance guys and gals.
