Well since the pick up screen is damaged, I'm not going use this tank. I'm gonna work on the one I pulled off of Bumblebee. Shouldn't take much since it's in way better shape than the spare was.
Gave it another lime/calcium/rust cleaner treatment. Let it set for 15- 20 minutes like the bottle said. It's working. I think one more longer treatment will get it all. Oh, I did notice the reserve pick up screen on this tank got damaged somehow.

I added some lime-away type cleaner and it cleaned the pick up screen rather nicely. It was pretty caked with I don't know what. That black residue seems to be getting eaten away also. More experimenting on this one tomorrow.
The pulled tank from my 1980 GL1100 doesn't look too bad. Pick up...
My current project before I started tearing it down. Is this pick ok? Backdrop is kinda nice, lol!
1980 GL1100 Standard will be dubbed Bumblebee when I am done. It is my Transformer project.
Pulled the tank. Book says "removal is a laborious process". :whip: It didn't seem so to me. Once everything is out of the way and I removed the petcock, the tank slid right out. And of course I have been doing a little here and a little there so that probably made it seem easier.
