I took my 92 1500 on a fund raising ride on Saturday. The ride was about 130 miles in length. The weather was warm and the ride took us through several villages so there was a lot of long runs mixed in with slow stop and go through the villages. The water temp never went much past half but the...
Sorry I did not know that they are actually called foot warmers so asking about vent heat in my original post was probably confusing. But back to the original question. Do the foot warmers actually work because mine don't seem to do much. Thanks.
When it's still cool in the mornings I thought the vent heat would be a nice option however I seem to be getting little or no air flow (hot or cold) from those lower vents. I've turned the vent knob to the open position and tried setting the little louver arm in either position but I don't seem...
It's been quiet on this forum so I thought I would ask a couple of questions about two items for the 1500 that I've seen on eBay.
First - Front fork stabilizer - Looks like a nicely machined piece of aluminum that spans across both front forks. I've never seen a post about the front forks of...
Hi
I wondering if on my 1992 SE if the front shocks are tied into the compressor or just the back? The reason I ask is on my 1100 Aspy there was a switch that allowed for independent pressure adjustment of the front or rear shocks. I don't see anything on the 1500 compressor that allows you to...
Hello,
I plan on ordering and installing the rear speaker set below. My bike does not have a fader control so I am looking for suggestions as to there to mount the one shown.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks for all the comments. Here is another question.
I assume that since the bike has release handles for the windshield the intent is to be able to slide the windshield up and down a couple of inches. When I had mine apart the screws through the windshield slots were tightened down and the...
I had my new to me 1500 for about 1 month now and one of the issues it has is that there was an area in the instrument cluster that has got too hot and has melted. I started a thread about this and it appears it is the result of sun damage and a non-OEM windshield. I now believe it was sun...
Yes it's single caliper and standard lines. I did take the caliper off and looked at the pads. They are only slightly worn. I worked the pedal while holding the caliper in my hand and it seems to me that it takes a fair amount of pedal pressure to get the caliper to move but that is a very...
The rear brake on my 1981 Interstate has always been weak in my opinion. I have replaced the pads and the rotor looks fine but you really have to push hard on the pedal to get much stop action. I don't think it would be possible to lock the rear wheel at running speed even if you wanted to. I...
As an update to the damage I have on my 1500 I was able to find a parts break down of the instrument cluster and the black matt surface which forms the background of the gauge cluster is available from Honda for around $40. It's on back order with expected delivery mid-June. I ordered one and...
Thanks for the comments. The person I bought the bike from is the second owner and was very good about telling me everything about the bike. He owned it since 2001 and has kept complete service records so I'm not to worried about these small issues. I'm sure the bike is an SE as it has the foot...
I received my new to me 1992 1500 SE on Monday and I've been going over it and am learning a lot. There are a couple questions that I haven't found the answers for so here they are.
I noticed that the right hand passenger storage compartment on my bike will not open. The previous owners said...
I'm not sure about the rules here concerning referencing other forums directly but over on the Steve S forum there is a thread that seems to account for the damage I have.
"The plastic panel that surrounds the gauges and indicator lights has deformed in the area around the row of lights that...
That area in the cluster is the Reverse indicator light which works but normally would only be on for a few seconds. I agree that it is hard to believe this was caused by a reflection from the key however there does seem to be some evidence of damage outside of the cluster in line with the key...
Hello,
I've been around for sometime in the 1100 section however I just picked up a new to me 1992 1500 SE. The bike has 82,000 km and is in good condition. I'm looking forward to learning about this bike via this forum as I did with my 1100 so thanks in advance for all the help I'm sure I will...
The mirrors on my 83 Aspy project bike are loose at the pivot. I tried removing them and I see there is a screw which looks like it is meant to be used to tighten up the joint. I got about 1/2 a turn on one and the other would not move. The right side is better now but still pretty easy to...
They sound nice - not too loud not to soft. I believe they are stock GW mufflers however I did not install the cross over. I ended up blocking off the holes. I could not get it all to line up and go together with the cross over in place. There must be a trick to it, but I couldn't figure it out.
Here are a couple of pictures. I always intend to take more during a project but I get caught up in the work and never do. The first picture shows the headers and the mufflers slipped on. I was hoping this would have worked however the angle and length were all wrong. Also note the snow in the...
