I was looking at my 740 carb I received recently. Anyone with one of these carbs notice unfiltered air can flow up the slot that the choke rod goes through ??? At least that's the way it is with mine. I believe some kind of gasket material should be present there. Looks like it's missing on my carb.
I vaguely remember that my old '82 Horizon used this carb ( Holly version ) and it had some small sheet of plastic ( with a hole in it for the choke rod to pass through ) to seal the air from getting past the choke rod.
