So far I have been VERY happy with my C5 system on my '76 Wing.
Yesterday morning, the bike wouldn't start. It cranked and popped
a bit, but no start. I had to go to work, so I left it and took the truck.
This morning, just as an afterthought, I pulled the cover off of
the C5 housing on the back of the left cylinder bank and found
a little bit of gray dust in it. Not much, just a bit.
I tried to start it again. Nothing.
So I blew into the housing a couple of times and hit the switch
again. FIRED RIGHT UP! A speck of dust must have been
blocking the optical sensor!
Paul, have you ever seen this before?
(and how did the dust get in there since the housing
has a tight fitting gasket?)
Anyway, I'm a happy camper again!
VROOM! I'm outa here!

If it were sealed too tightly trapped condensation could become an issue. In most places I expect dust is not really an issue but apparently there and I'm guessing here (since my car always has black dust on it) dust is an issue. Good fix! Thanks for posting!
