I am working on a bike that has had no attention to it.

I have a left head and gasket to put on. Does it matter which side of gasket goes on the head?

Do you suggest using copper spray on the gasket or not?

Yes it matters... the gasket is shaped to fit only one way. Ask me how I know... :head bang: The pistons aren't the problem, it's the lower part of the engine. I've never used any spray so I am no help as far as that goes.

Clean flat surfaces, good bolt and block threads lubed, and proper torque method is most important.
I have set heads both with and without copper coat, probably doesn’t matter either way with proper assembly.

Be sure the guide pins are smooth and round. Buggered guides can prevent proper seating of the gasket.

Don’t know if needed but I like to retoorque head bolts after first warm up run.
