Which end goes into the engine block? Working on GL1100. The wide open end. or the end with the holes on the side?
I am ready to put the left head back on the engine.

I don’t think it matters, oil gets thru either way, but I put the larger end into the block since that’s normally the direction of flow for an orifice like this.

I have seen them installed both ways on heads I’ve pulled for my first time on engines I’ve acquired. The larger end fits better into the block so another reason I put it that way.

I stand corrected. I found it does go big end into the head after looking at a loose head and orifice I have here. I had it reversed in my head.
I still doubt it matter for flow metering or otherwise but that’s neither here nor there. It’s most important to have a good seal with the o ring.
