When I changed my oil and filter I noticed the seat washer wasn't there, but went ahead and finished the job anyway and ordered the seat washer.
Well I got the washer and would like to put it in, just wondering if I would have to drain the oil before removing the oil filter, I know I will lose some oil when the filter comes off.
Thanks in advance for any advice

It will drain a lot of oil when you pull the filter. I grabbed one of the wife's good Tupperware containers to catch the oil and used the oil again when I did it, but I want to add I had less than 100 miles on the oil.

I have an old metal hub cap from a gmc safari that I use for stuff like that
