seeing that the weather guesser said that it was going to rain this afternoon I though I would get another morning ride in. it was a little cool when I left home ( about 09:45 and 54º ) so when I stopped at the gas station I put my jacket liner in my jacket

from there I headed west then took m-39 north and I-96 east so I could go over to mom's but I had to exit the expressway at warren ave. cause my left mirror housing popped off. once I had it back on I took warren ave. to m-5 and headed east and spotted this

after leaving the church I really didn't know where I wanted to go so I headed west on Jefferson ave. once downtown I decided to take m-85 west. traffic got real heavy as I got out to southwest Detroit, with south bound I-75 under construction m-85 is being used as the detour route. the good part, m-85 ends with you on I-75 south about 25 miles from the ohio border. once in ohio I head for downtown toeldo and quickly decide that's not where I want to be so after a quick fuel stop I take I-280 over to oh-2. Cleveland and north Ridgeville pop in my mind, I don't think I want to ride that far so I steeled for port clinton

leaving the lighthouse I took O-163 west but after a short ride the road is closed for bridge repair, I end up taking a few city streets south then picking up O-53 and then back on O-2 heading for Toledo . traffic is rolling along at a good clip and i'm in no hurry, what a nice day for a ride. entering Oregon, Oh. I noticed the sky to the north is not looking very good so I made a quick stop to change gloves and put the jacket liner back in, it's waterproof ( I hope ). before I can make the half mile ride to I-280 it starts to sprinkle and by the time I cross the I-280 bridge over the Maumee river it starts raining really hard. I head north on I-75 and cross the boarder into Michigan, up around mile marker 6everyone is slowing down, cars and suv's are on the shoulder along with a few bikes. looking down I see that they pulled over for the hail storm that I missed so I roll on through in the pouring rain. I took I-275 north because it has smoother pavement that I-75 even though it adds a few more miles on to the trip. by the time I reach new boston, mi. it stopped raining and a few miles later the roads are dry enough to put a little pep in my step! I took I-94 eastand pushed a ton for a few miles ( I was out by the airport, aren't you sapose to fly :) ) before backing down to 80mph. I picked up m-39 and headed north, those tintops acted like they didn't know what to do on an expressway. I took m-153 east and Schafer rd north for home, yes it started sprinkling again about three miles from home

Nice report. Gotta love the "stop for gas" comment and the shots of the bike in an abandoned station!

And let me tell you about hail. I have a healthy respect for it. My first road trip on the Valkyrie we ran into a storm - 30 miles from home after 800 miles. I made a little extracurricular excursion off the highway. Lucked out and no harm done. Scared the bejeepers out of me, though. Went from pouring rain to half an inch of marble-sized hail on the road in the time it takes to think about it.

Great ride, William.
