The only reason for using diesel oil is high detergent which keeps contaminants suspended in oil so no buildup of sludge in engine.
When i remove valve covers to adjust valve clearances engine is like new no yellow tinge everthing is like new.

The only concern i would have is that if not done since new is that removal of buildups could cause excessive smoking because of excessive wear on internal parts.

Rotella is all I've used in my 1800. Presently using Carquest diesel in the 1000. Your experience validates my practice.
