Ride On or dyna beads?

I have not balanced a tire in 10 years. My semi truck tires come with dynabeads and they clump or something every now and then producing the worse vibration.

I line up the paint mark with the valve stem and call it good.

I love It! Sometimes simple is best. I did the same thing to a bike tore once and didn't feel a vibration for the life of the tire.

I use dyna beads and never had a clumping issue. If I was going to, I was sure it would have been the car tire because of the amount of soap I used to mount the tire but never had a problem.

I like the beads because of their ability to balance under adverse conditions. When I rear ended grandma and grandpa because they wanted to stop in front of me on I95, I felt the beads balance my wheels/tires under an extreme adverse condition. A few seconds of vibrations, and then suddenly the vibrations were gone, the wheels smoothed out, and I was able to control the bike. I'm not sure ride on would provide that... I'm sold on dyna beads because I've seen and felt them work.

I've used the Dynabeads on several tires on both the 1100 and the 1500....simply put, they WORK. Never used any of the other stuff, so can't compare the two. When i first installed the front tire on the 1500 after I bought it, the vibrations was so bad I couldn't go over 75mph...it was bad! With the Dynabeads, it is as smooth as silk up to at least 100mph, which is as fast as I've taken it. :good:

I've used both, Counter Act beads instead of Dyna beads - same thing. Prefer Ride-On Tire Sealant and Balancing formula. Does same as the beads but I found it to be better at dynamic balancing even after an extended lay up. Ride-On is a one shot deal, stays with the tire when you replace it. Provides puncture sealing in the main part of the tire, does not go on the sidewalls. People reuse the beads.

Personal preference.

Cheers

I came to the realization that balance my tires were null after meticulous balancing and then running the bike and somewhere loosing my weights. Most of my bikes have had tire the size of the gl1000 though with the only exception was my Blackbird and R1 which the R1 I did not do the tires on that I had them serviced, untill the bank too it away from me.
But I am curious what does these gizmos look like coming out of the tire, I mean after mounting and using rim lube or Windex or just soap did they get affected? I would assume (so bad to do) that this is a DIY solution since for years and years I had no desire to mount my own tires and not once did they offer Dyna beads they would plaster a lead weight on my beautiful rims.

I lust over the R1, and the Aprillia.
My son has eyes on the new Ducati.
On any of the sport bikes, it’s shop install and high speed balance only IMO.
I’ve had his S1000RR about 140 mph. Curious if beads would help anything if the tires are balanced good.

I use a Teflon Coated bead and without looking it up I believe the name of them is Counteract or similar to that. Same bead they use in big rigs and buses. The ones I have now are in the third set of tires as they are reusable and other than being gray in color now they are as new as I can tell. No clumping together and the smooth ride is very noticeable. I had unsightly weights on before the beads and then threw a weight off the front wheel. Will never use wheel weights again. Front tire cupping and uneven tire wear ceased to be a problem.

Dyna beads will always work where any balancing with weights is only good for a short time. Yeah the tires will be close with weights after the tires break-in, but not perfect all the time like the beads.

Precisely! But trying to convince people that tires do not wear 100% evenly can sometimes be difficult.

I had one problem with Dynabeads clumping when the tire jockey used a huge glop of lube and didn't get it out of the tire. I buy the in bulk, now but have not used them in the last two car tires I've been through (on the back of the 1800).

Been having a issue on my 4x4 Cummins p/u, 4 times 3 different tire balance machines , Check for true (roundness) within 1/8 inch, Tried to find a On car balance shop and even trying to find a guy to shave my tires like i did in Ca back in the 1980's No body has the talent anymore to put their finger on the bumper and on car spin balance anymore, so as i read this and every other forum search Dyna beads or similar products have all been positive, I give up !,,, And my beads just came in the mail yesterday, just checked ounces required and this is my last hope, My old tires were fine this is all due to new tires !! doing it Friday i will get back with results

Well the beads are in,,, pulled all the weights off.. amazing they had the same amount of weight 180 from each other ? ,, and new tract bar bushings , new stabilizer steering shock, and now flash flooding in New England..just washed the truck yesterday the bad weather must be my fault

There are ceramic beads in Val’s new rear tyre. :good:
$80 for the tyre, $10 for the beads. :good:

Well truck has the beads in and it is smooth ! wow they worked ! amazing , The tire balance computers should UP the test speed to 55-60 MPH to be more accurate ,The kid said the new one he was using did test @ 35 mph ,,Waist of time and money, gonna pull the weights off the rear and do the beads also .. what a relief :salute:
