There's a good chance I'll be picking up a 91 Goldwing w/ matching Ca. sidecar. Been sitting for about 6 years. Ran before it was parked. Needs a lot of work but the price is right. I don't have my 84 1200i finished yet so guess I'll have two projects going at once. The good news is I won't get the pieces mixed up.

Sidecar project bike at a price I could afford would have to come home here. And I already have enough projects to keep busy for the next 50 years.

The owner says the starter is bad so I won't be able to hook it up to a battery to see if the motor turns over. So I'm thinking if I pull the plugs and push it in gear it should turn the motor over if it's not seized up. Am I correct ?

After sitting 6 years I'd be very cautious in trying to turn the motor over. One stuck valve can cause a lot of damage to what could be a fine motor. Not worth the risk in my view.

So bring it home and pull covers to check valves first?

Check valves and belts. Starter may be an easy fix. Sometimes just a bit of corrosion needs cleaned off. Rebuild is pretty simple too. Yes check the valves and when you do turn it over do it slowly by hand so you can feel if it "catches" at some point. Do not muscle through if it does.

Will do and thanks for the advise slabghost.

OK Fast forward 15 months. After sitting for 9 years not 6 like the PO told me. $2000 in parts. Lots of elbow grease and paint. Sold the sidecar and went with a bolt on trike kit. Runs like a champ.
