I love my Vetter side panniers ( and my windjammer and top box ) with the convenience for key unlocking, handy carrying and angled side door for easy loading. I don't know how they would look on your bike with the cafe tail but I think it would be worth an experiment to see whether you can live with them. You may need extra flashers on the bags which would require a quick disconect plug assembly. Here are some photos of the mounting frame on the Rats Nest which may give you and idea if they are possible to mount on your bike.

I truly appreciate the ideas and suggestions.

It seems that folks are thinking of me <sniff>. One of our illustrious members kindly alerted me to a pair of decent aftermarket bags on fleabay for a decent price.

I sprung for them.

I've seen these before, but don't remember the manufacturer. Maybe Chinese. Since they won't be doing full-time duty, I figured "what the heck", I'll take a shot and see how they line up. The rounded contours won't be perfect with the angular lines of my current tail section, but in this case, it's function over form.

Wish me luck.

Not too nice for a passenger.

I have a lot of time to read the forms while I'm visiting North Carolina and it makes me do a lot of thinking about motorcycles in the garage and what I could or should do them.

You guys might remember this cheap set of bags that I bought a while back intending to put them on my café '78 - just for short overnighters. After they came, I sort of decided that I didn't want to put them on there and so they've been sitting in the garage ever since.

Now I'm thinking that they do might actually be a good fit for the Sidecar rig and I might get to deploy them after all! I'm going to give them a trial fit when I get back.

Well, I can thank Afrodite (FlipFlop) for this one. If you guys remember this thread, you'll recall that I was looking for bags for my "cafe" '78 so that i can use it for a few overnighters instead of the Valkyrie all the time. As it's currently configured, it's hard to tote much around. I bought the bags noted earlier in this thread and ended up not using them. I sold them to a friend who painted them red and is enjoying the heck out of them on his '77.

So, why do I thank Afrodite? Because earlier today, she posted about the confused chap here in Phoenix:
https://www.classicgoldwings.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=134&t=13200

I saw the condition of his Hondaline bags and called to see if he still had them (ad was a month old). He did.

$100. (Pretty good deal I think. They were darn near pristine. (As close as it gets, I suspect). So, my '78 may morph slightly in the not-too-distant-future:

For some reason, the site will not accept photos from my new iPhone. See the ad above for pics of the bags. They are unmarked and the chrome on the mounts has zero pits or rust. It's Arizona, man.

Very cool, glad the add was legit I saw the pics and they were too perfect IMO so i figured the good looks plus the wrong year was just a scam.

Glad it worked out though very cool.
