It was scorching 97F and the fan came on while crusing 70MPH on a freeway.
Is that normal?

Did your drinks stay cool?

if those are thermo electric coolers the dropped the temp about 20º, I use to have a 36qt 12v electric cooler in my big truck when I drove over the road but on the bike I would rather stop for a cold drink at a gas station or some other place on a 97º day and use one of those coolers on a cooler day

In a perfect world, the fan should never come on at speed. Shouldn't be necessary. It does nothing while you're cruising that the airflow isn't already doing. A good flush might be in order. A bit more of a PIA, but verification of the thermostat wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks all.

The temp gauge was slightly above the mark (I guess that's the temp the fan comes on.)
No overheating.

I didn't hook up the 12V to the coolers so couldn't test.
My intension is to go on a semi-long (one week or so) camp touring in a bit more cool weather, buy dinner ingredients and beer from a local supermarket before heading to a campground.
So hopefully they should do a job.
