I have zero experience with that carb. Would the same jet sizes I used apply to yours? I can’t say.

I don't think so, I tried to cross reference your numbers and didn't have any luck. I'm thinking my low jet is too lean given it's a carb built for a 1,600cc engine on a 1,000cc. I am taking my welding tip cleaners and working the next size up in intervals to see if that helps.

Wow, thats a wonderful offer! You should charge me something for them at least. PM coming your way

I have 55 idle and 135 main jets on my 34 Pict 3, but that is on a 1200. I find that the idle is the biggest problem. I have to set it in the spring, set it again in the summer, and I will have to set it again in the fall and winter, but the VW forums suggest that it is needed when these things are in their natural habitat.

If you decide to go the route of soldering the jet to resize, a simple tip is to stick a smaller than needed drill bit in the hole before adding the solder. When you remove the drill bit, you have a pilot hole to make drilling the larger hole easier... Oh, and that jet with a ball bearing in is no problem.

Thanks for the info. I will bookmark this. I went to try to start it today to mess with it a bit, it disnt start and fuel was running out of the ledt side exhaust pipe. I guess I'm not supposed to pump the throttle while trying to start it?

No. Do not pump the throttle. When it is right it will start with just a touch of the start button. Accel pump on these is another issue that needs adjusted to supply the right boost of fuel.

Cold starting without using the choke will usually need continuous twists of the throttle to pump in gas to get it running, and keep it running, until it stabilized and can run on its own. Only do these twists while cranking the engine.
Once the engine is warmed up a bit, no choke or twists should be needed to start it.

I’m viewing on my phone which is a bit hard to tell, but it seems like the second video is better. I suggest though, ride it because I found there is a huge difference runnng on the stand and how it performs when taking off from a stop, accelerating, cruising, and coming to a stop. If it’s too rich in the idle and low end, when coasting to a stop it will load up and stall.

Unfortunately, we are anticipated to have 4-6 inches of rain in the Midwest this weekend. That initial ride won't happen until Monday or Tuesday now.
