last Friday I headed out about7:45, after stopping for gas and at the bank it was about time to start making my way north. I made a quick stop in Dearborn, mi. for this before taking us-12 east. it was on the cool side at 48º and with the time of day it was I was in no hurry to get on the expressway. once in downtown Detroit I headed north on m-3 taking note of some murals along the way. this added time on to my trip but I was in no real hurry. up in mt. Clemens, mi I took north river rd. over to I-94 and headed east. I crossed the blue water bridge in port huron, mi. the border crossing went well but I've never had a problem going to or coming from Canada. I stopped at the currency exchange building so I could have some Canadian cash in my pocket and when I came out I was surrounded by about 15 Harleys, they were heading to a police memorial somewhere in Canada and I got an invite to ride along with them at the back of the pack. I declined because I knew that I didn't want to ride that slow or hear a bunch of loud Harley's for the next four hours, I let them leave about five minutes before I did

it had warmed up to 52º so I took my mid-weight fleece jacket off and replaced it with a light weight fleece jacket under my tourmaster metro jacket. heading east on 402 it wasn't bad and a couple three miles before reaching the 401 I caught up with the group of Harley riders, their plan was just to cruise at 70mph and take it easy so on one got a ticket, my plan was to keep pace with traffic which meant running about 85mph. once on the 401 I thought about getting something to eat but wasn't really hungry and seeing that the Mighty ST 1300 didn't need gas I had no reason to stop. I took the 403 over towards Hamilton, ON. it gets a little hillly over that way and curvy too but pretty soon I was on the QEW heading towards Niagara but my destination was Grimsby, ON. I had nothing programed in the gps only some directions I had jotted down and put in the map pocket of my tank bag so I exited the QEW at exit 85 so I could re-read my directions. after re-reading I got back on the QEW rode down to exit 74. paying little attention once off the QEW I rode right past the hotel and went about three miles out of my way before doing an about face. once back at the hotel ( the Casablanca winery Inn ) I checked in and went to my room to warm up, the temp had dropped down to 47º and I had a chill and didn't realize it, really needed to warm up. once I got the 'ol bones warm I went and unloaded the bike and parked it

after lunch I decided to do a little exploring and found a little road side park with a view of lake Ontario. after leaving there I wanted to see if I could find another park along the water but had no luck in the distance I was willing to travel

after leaving the church I decided to head to downtown Grimsby, ON. but I didn't realize that it was just after 17:00. there was a ton of traffic passing through once I got there and getting some pic's with that much traffic didn't seem like a wise thing to do so with my mental notes I headed back to the inn so I could text a few people to let them know that I had made it

after looking out the window in my room and taking a pic Saturday morning I got dressed and I was out the door just before 07:00 and rode back to the road side park

from there I rode back downtown for a few pic before going back to the hotel. even though I had more time to explore that wasn't the reason I was in grimsby

still not feeling well sunday morning I got the Mighty ST 1300 re-loaded for my trip home. my cousin bought my suit to the hotel and took it back to his home after the wedding so I didn't have to worry about it. by 08:00 I was heading over to the gas station to fill up, 48º and sprinkling with a good breeze coming out of the north. reversing course it had stopped sprinkling before I got off the QEW and back on 403, now it was just cool. traffic was moving along and even the one RCMP that I saw bothered to stop anyone, we were all rolling along at 85mph or more. it was raining on and off once I get back to sarnia so I decided to try and find some buckly's before crossing the bridge but had no luck but I did find these

no luck finding buckly's and tired of the rain I crossed the blue water bridge, no problems with customs getting back in the states. while it was only 52º it was dry thought the roads were wet in port huron, mi. I took m-25 over to Marysville, mi. then took I-94 west. cruising at 75mph, the roads stayed wet until just west of wadhams, mi. seeing that the roads were dry I kicked it up to 85mph, it's funny how people get on the expressway and look at you like your going slow even when you are doing 85mph. well I know that most won't keep up that fast pace they had when they first got on the road and I passed most all of them within five miles. about an hour after leaving Marysville I was home and cold with a headache again

Wow. Another really good narrative, William. I really enjoy them and am sorry your season is drawing to a close. Also, sorry about the cold. I picked up a mild one last week at work. It didn't stay around long.

Would love to ride along on one of your trips - unless you're a confirmed lone wolf. Some folks do actually prefer riding alone. I enjoy one riding companion. Usually, more than that can get complicated.

As Darrell said :good:
You looked really smart in your wedding suit William! :hi:
