I’ve had troubles with att dsl in the past.
I’m on new fiber the last year or so, been very fast and reliable.

DSL comes over old phone lines. Here they’re in bad shape. Just glad we could get the fiber to house, in fact I have plans for it since I can also have 5 static IP addresses, being activated tomorrow. Further details coming......

DSL comes over old phone lines. Here they’re in bad shape.

They're especially bad when the friggin skwerills climb down the lines, and chew them in half... :Awe: That's what the feller found on mine. On the line goin down the back of the property, in a junction box just a few feet from the pole. Funny thing is, the LAST guy up that pole is the one that left the damn COVER off the box, and just threw a plastic sack over it, allowing varmits free access to the wiring. Moron.... :Doh2: The feller said ours wasn't the only service that had chewed wires, but he weren't gunna fix any of the others until/unless someone else called aboot them.. :hihihi:

Anywho, we're back in biddness. :yahoo:

You could sit down with a coffee and chat with the Mrs, or curl up on the couch with a good book. We have a coffee shop nearby that does not have WIFI and has a banner posted that mentions that you might have to talk with whomever you are with.

My sister was out to Victoria visiting from Ontario. We went for a trip up into the interior. On the way back she was on the phone continuously and I asked her what she did before the cell phone and texts, she told me she couldn't remember.

Good luck.

flat :smilie_happy:

We had a similar event about 2-3 years ago with ATT, only they replaced the modem I had, added a battery backup/surge protector, then started charging a rental fee for the equipment they left :crying: :cheeky: :head bang:

I don't know how to circumvent the new stuff, if so I'd get rid of their equipment.

You can supply your own modem. In fact buying your own could speed up your connection speed. Just make sure the modem you get is on their supported list.

I use Verizon for Internet and Phone, well the TV sits in the corner and gets what ever goes over the air or is activated via a DVD/Blueray Player. But I am a trucker and spend 6.5 days out and a day and a half at home per week.

Actually DoCSis x.x stands for Data over Cable System InfraStructure, which is generally not used by ATT, rather used by cable tv systems.

Modems used by ATT are called DSL modems and cannot use any DOCSIS x.x modem. Generally cable systems broadcast their data (phone, cable and internet) over a "radio" frequency, and the modem connects to that (their can be and usually is a filter or other device ).
