Can an 82 front wheel be put on an 83 with no problems?

My problem is my 83 busted the speedometer cable and I can not find the right cable that fits.
I will get a gear box assembly and cable that match.
So I want to change the wheels so I can use the 82 speedometer cable.

I think I remember seeing that swap once before... it's been a while though Wes.

My bet is that the wheel switch would work. Still has the dual caliper set up and the linked brake system shouldn't come in to play. My 83 did not have Comstars but when I look at comparison photos I don't see any difference in the overall setup. Might look weird if you have mags in the front and Comstars in the back????

If it was the cable only that broke just replace that. It should fit.

All is well now. Found a cable that works.
Thanks for the info for future reference.
