    All good information Jeff , but one major problem is Honda doesn't consider the idle jet on 80-82 GW's to be replaceable . Hence they dont have a part number for it. Not exactly what you'd expect from Honda.

    all of the above , Plugs carbon up after a few minutes,28mpg, raw gas in the exhaust. but........it runs like a striped ass ape , idles fine .

    well it wouldn't be inches , and several people told me the Japanese MFG doesn't use mm ,they have some kinda formula that relates to flow rate . if you look at this string you'll see one note I got on this .     everything has been gone over several times , the 35 on the jets isn't a dimension it's a flow rate , well that's the info I've gotten from several sources. I'll ask again , anybody have any press in idle jets for an 81? or 4 81 carbs.

    OK , we've made some progress on this too rich issue. We measured the idle jets and according to a reliable source they should be about .014 , mine are .020. Now the problem is where can I get new or used jets for an 81 1100? Is there anyway to use the jets for a 83 1100? The 83 jets are screw...

    to all who responded to my "too Rich posting" thanks for all your input, I bought the randakks over haul kit and will let you all know how it goes. we've no heat in the garage so it might be a while .

    question on the jets,,,,,the main jet is marked as a 145 and I think they are ok. But what does the 145 mean in mm or inches ? the slow jet or idle jet should be a 35 , but they are not marked and I'm thinking they may be the problem. If they were Honda jets wouldn't they be stamped with a 35...

    thanks to you all , this forum has been extremely helpful , we haven't found the culprit yet but we've certainly gained a lot if information here to keep us going.     compression is a little high ,185-190, within 5 on all 4 cylinders . we suspect carbon to be the reason for the high readings . haven't checked ignition at all , we've got no misses or any other sign of ignition problems.

    well the pic's in the book sure helped with all the passages , and we've checked and double checked them all. Now we're trying to figure out how to check the size of the jets. like I said before the bike runs and idles great , but the carbon build up because of the rich mixture will probably...
