86 aspy won`t start

My son-in laws 86 aspy won`t start. The battery checks out ok,the lights are good and bright, dash works,horn won`t blow,when you hit the start button it just clicks. The bike has been stored all winter this is the first attempt to start.Anyone have any ideas?

Ron, it sounds like the start solenoid is stuck or not working.

Just click is likely the solenoid working. Check your main ground at frame and battery. Be sure connections are clean and tight. Starter itself is grounded through mounting bolts. Back one off and retighten it. Also check the power wire connections at the starter and solenoid that they are clean and tight. Starter should work now.

Sometimes, a little love tap with a sledge helps, too :builder: ....but for sure, check the ground, and starter connections first. :mrgreen:

It was the starter silonoid,it was bad. :thanks:
