With all those posts spaced tightly together I'd imagine it would be difficult to wind.
I was not suggesting it would fail, but trying to explain why that would be a concern (for those who don't know).

Dipping in varnish is smart, and I see less and less of the aftermarket stators being done that way.

My rewinder used to work for General Electric doing massive jobs and when he was retrenched about 20 years ago he started specialising in Motorcycle windings. The powder coating insulation material he uses he imports directly from Germany and is the key to the reliability of his rewinds.

I just bought a Buell Blast (492cc single). I wonder if they had voltage regulator issues or toasted stators as well?

Luckily Buell's don't vibrate :whistling:

Original Buell regulator/rectifier that charged 13.5-13.8 and jumped around with revs
Cut off the original wires and attached them to my second hand Mofset regulator that I carted around in the Rats Nest in case the original one failed ( one of these days I will finally do the conversion). True regulated charging 14.5v no matter what revs or load this should hopefully alleviate the overheating stator issues that Buell/Rotax have.
hmm, have done a little bit of research on this charging issue. tell me if i got this right.
the 75 has a rectifier and a regulator.
the rectifier changes the current from ac to dc. ?
the regulator then sends excess current to ground , keeping the charge rate at around 14 v . ( hopefully )
it does this by receiving a "signal" from a sense wire ( black one i think )

the mofset regulator is a rectifier and regulator in one.
it regulates the charge by switching the current flow, on and off inside the unit, keeping the charge rate constant at any revs ?
or does the current coming from these stators go up and down with revs ?
we did touch on this in one of our phone conversations, just been thinking about this.

is there a certain reg/rec that is better than another ? or is Mofset the brand to get ? i see a lot of el cheapo units on Ebay ( from Hong Kong )

The earlier Gl1000 had seperate regulators and rectifiers. In later model GLs the regulator and rectifier are combined in one unit that takes the maximum AC current and converts it to DC ( the rectifier part) then the regulator sinks to ground any excess current not used by the accesories or to charge the battery to ground. The Mofset regulator/rectifier switches the current on and off rapidly to regulate the current output and provide a stable voltage. I have received a cheap Chinese (ebay $28) Mofset regulator that I will fit to the Rats Nest and document all the charge/output specifics soon (hopefully),
