hmmmm...something happen ....maybe look at ballist resistor connections they get hot .and after thirty yrs just wiggleing an moving around themis enough to degrade the wiring to dm near nothing ...what kind of spark plug wire you useing solid core copper is the right stuff for 1200s i think ....hmmmmm keep at it some thing has changed

Try taking an old spark plug and setting the gap @ 6mm or 1/4" gap on the wires you changed. If a good blue flame will arc across that gap then it's not likely that you have a wire or coil problem. It could be carb problems or vacuum problems causing the backfire. The vacuum lines are like 28 years old and become brittle and crack. The 1200 uses the anti afterburn valve and the slow air cutoff valve on the bottom of the carb rack to help prevent backfire both of which are vacuum operated. There's one vacuum line on the left side of the ECM, right up there where you were working on the coils. IF neither of those are the problem it's probably a carb issue.

Stripped it down to the beginning and redid it from the beginning...all good now!! Must have a a wire crossed or loose on the coil?? At one point the rear cylinders weren't firing at all?? It is good...Thanks to all of you!! Cheers!! Going to do rear brakes now...this may not be the last you hear from me!!! Lmao!!
