I bought a neat aftermarket turn signal set from Ebay a couple of weeks ago. It came today and I really like it, except for the fact it has 3 wires, and my Gl1000 only has 2. I made sure when I bought it that the picture showed 2 wires, but its from China so its not worth trying to return.

The signal has red (power), black (nuetral), and brown (I assume running lights)

I have no clue how to wire this and my google searches keep coming up with people doing the exact opposite (wiring a 2 wire aftermarket turn signal to a 3 wire bike) Just leave the brown wire hanging? Tie in the brown and red to the power from the bike? Just grasping at straws here--

only 3 connectors and two wires just pair them until it works. Going from 3 to 2 connector I think only the ground is eliminated. Worst case scenario you need to add a ground wire.

Thanks, finally found an article that explained it. I should be able to just wire in the power and ground and leave the brown wire (running lights) just hanging> It will still just act like a regular 2 wire turn signal that way.

That should be all that it takes, but make sure which wire is actually powering the running light. The running light wire will power the dimmer element in the bulb and you really want the turn signal to be seen so you want to power the brighter element.

Or you could wire both together for a slightly brighter flasher

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but... would that increase the electrical draw by a significant amount? I know that we are dealing with not a lot of extra juice on the oldwings so we have to be careful of every little bit drawing extra power.

No not really, I run 4 trunk running lights, the tail running light, fairing running lights, lower dash are changed to led as well as the speedo and tack are also led. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinf ... 2543/4721/

So even with all this there is no issue. In this picture the bike is running, Led lights on my table at noon

Flasher is 21w and clearance is 5w usually so your extra draw is marginal and remember it is ittermittent unless you forget to turn off your flasher
