Is it possible... Driving Lights

If I'm understanding what you want to do is you don't want the driving lights on during the day, but on at night on both high and low beam. If you switch activates the relay and turns the light on, why do you need to use high and low beam to activate the relay. Like Dan said you could use a photo switch so they won't come on during the day, and just have them come on at night. IF you did need to disable them on high beam all you need is a normally closed relay that is triggered by the high beam.

I currently have the lights wired to the low beam circuit. If it would ever quit raining, I would be able to get the bike out at night and see what the lights are like on just low beam. The second relay and trigger may not be needed, but I can't be sure until I get it out in the dark... It's been raining all week long, so not much riding at night happening here.

You only need one 3 position or changeover switch and one relay to have a control from both high and low beams Brian

Yup, if I decide to hook them up to the high beam, I just need another relay.
You only need one relay and one switch

So put the relay after the switch, and then the switches out put triggers the relay.

No such law to my knowledge here, :nea: so a single throw toggle for the ground, to turn them on & off, :headscratch: should be a bit less work.

Yes Brian :good:
Sorry that I didn't explain it better but you can use a 3 pin switch to control 2 circuits (lights etc) or have 2 circuits control one device

I did something similar on my Valkyrie. I added a pair of Showchrome running lights and wired them (through a relay) to come on when the high beams were activated. But, I also added an override switch on the control side of the relay that will activate the lights manually at any time. That's a good compromise.

I'm not sure a relay is even needed for these LED lights even if they are 18 watts each. That's only 36 watts total.
Beauty of non-dimming LED drivers is the good chips will run full bright at much lower than 12 volts.
Relay can't hurt I guess, taking load of other switches and such.

Would love a pic of your running lights  and of course your " Fat Girl"

I am running mine off the tail light/ marker circuit but when I rewire the windjammer I intend to change to a relay circuit. I have dropped power consumption by using a 35w HID so I wasn't too concerned about adding 36w which makes the consumption slightly higher that the original high beam.

Uh oh. Sounds like the gauntlet has been thrown down...

(I won't clog this thread with Phat Ghurl pics, but here are a couple of shots that show the ShowChrome lights. Very good quality units. Happy customer.
