 :head bang: :Awe:
So...I started in with a comprehensive cleaning job yesterday, after riding in the rain last Friday. Since I had the shelter off, I wanted to check the coolant level in the rad. SON-OF-A-B :sensored: H!!! Dang reservoir has oil in it again, as does the radiator. What the hell is goin on with this turd anyway???? This is the THIRD time this has happened. As most of you know, I just recently had the engine out, and did a good cleaning/painting job, as well as new head gaskets, since it was getting coolant in the exhaust. I had already done the gaskets once before several years ago, shortly after replacing the stator. I have been keeping an eye on the coolant in the reservoir, and the last time I looked was prolly a week ago, and all was well at that time. Now..Friday, on the way in to werk, I did get stuck in traffic(in da rain), and I forgot to turn my fan on....I normally flip it on as I approach any traffic jams, so it is on before it is needed. Friday, I forgot....and I looked down one time and saw the temp gauge was well past the halfway mark, but not anywhere near the red. Definitely hotter than it has been at any time since I got it all back together earlier this year, but still not hot enough to cause any damage....it has been hotter than that before, in the past.
So now, I have to make a decision....do I REALLY want to tear back into this turd AGAIN, or do I start looking for a "new" ride? I bought this bike in 2008, and it has been a fairly reliable ride, but I'm sick of having to do major repairs like this all the time. Sure, it'll prolly survive the rest of the riding season here, and I could rip into it over the winter, but.....I JUST got done doing a major job on it last winter. I'm betting there is a crack, or something else going on with one(or both) of the heads. I did pull all 4 plugs yesterday, and there's NO indication of coolant in the cylinders, or on the plugs. Not getting any coolant in the oil, just oil in the coolant.
I friggin give up.... :fiddle:
