Swapping gearing from an '82 engine into an '83 engine?

Yeah right! You never dreamed the trailer would actually burden the wing. But it has and will. Lower gearing or more power are just the options.

Which brings me back to the same dilemma as before. I already have the gears and parts to change the gears out. Financially, it is really only a matter of gaskets.

BUT, a C5 with a switch allows me to change on the fly. Just the cost is 3 times the cost of gaskets making it hard to sell the idea to my Wife. :hihihi:

I might have to use Dan's idea. Won't be pulling the trailer all the time, justifies purchasing a C5 that allows switching back and forth without causing a permanent gear change! Plus, the C5 is safer right?

Yes and gear change will reduce mpg even without the trailer. So cost to run it goes up without C5.

If you're towing something with weight ya have to expect less mpg so that alone not a reason to get a C5, would take a long time to pay for it if it even does improve mpg.
Not trying to talk you into or out of buying it, just being realistic about it.

Nope, that's Gerry's job.

Lowering the gearing to compensate for the trailer will increase fuel use. Not by a lot and i agree it's not enough to justify an immediate purchase. But a big change jar is a good idea.
