Must be for southeast Asian market?
Definitely not in Japan.

There are a lot of small CC bikes from all of the majors in South America. For example, when I was in Guatemala back in 2007, I could not believe how many Suzuki GN series bikes I saw for sale brand new. In '81 I had a GN 400. Down there, I saw GN 125's everywhere. To my knowledge, Suzuki did not sell GN 125's in the states but they are a hot item down.

Well I have read 'GL' means Grand Luxe

Just remember, while all Goldwings are GL's, not all GL's are goldwings. I know, not a US bike, but this forum does not stop at the borders.

looks more like Honda a cb 100 and cb 125 to me from the early to mid 70's

That's what I was thinking. Not much Gold in that little thing, but Honda knows best.
With the current bike large and in charge, I'd hate to be the poor guy responsible for improving it.
