What Air cleaners fit, to replace the stock air box? Vertical clearance is not an issue at all, but it needs to clear the frame above the carbs.

I am using the stock carb setup, and the best I have found is this weber air cleaner for a Volkswagen. Whatever I get has to be offset to fit in front of the frame this one could be easily modded to fit the rectangular opening...

I am really just curious to see different air cleaner setups for stock carbs others have done on here, so I can get more ideas and find something that fits and works well. Pics please!

I don't know of any aftermarket filters used on stock racks other than K&N replacements. Stock racks use CV carbs and need a bit of vacuum in the plenum to function properly. I suppose that filter or others like it could be fitted but it will be a pain to adjust the carbs to work right with it.

Slab is right, may be a big waste of time and money putting one on, they do need some restriction to work right.

I have previously considered the fore mentioned concerns, they make a shorter(more restrictive) one and I figured I could choke it down if I needed to, restrictor plates are easy to make. I just wanted to simplify it and make it look better.

Anyone have any pics of air cleaner setups?

Having been through the hassle of adjusting the carbs for free flow filter on a KZ I have not tried any modification of the stock carb intake. I haven't read of any who have tried either. Yes you can restrict filter area to create the needed vacuum. Seems more trouble than it's worth to me. Changing the look of a component so hard to see in that location pretty much the only one who'll see it will be you.

I also recommend the stock air box, if you some bling maybe chrome vinyl wrap it. Stock filter has heaps of airflow for the right price

I am thinking I will try the short weber filter first, It should fit nicer with the false tank. If its really a problem, then I can always switch it back to the stock box.

I would never do a chrome wrap... yuk
bare plastic looks better.

My bike is pretty stripped, I think it will be quite visible, but I do see your point. I think it might take some tuning to get it right.
