Im in the middle of a head gasket replacement and I notice a puddle of oil near the front tire. My next job will be front fork seals . My question is fairing off or leave it on and work around it? Ive seen posts saying it can be done with the fairing on. And yes Im the one that joked about undressing her is half the fun.

There is a thread on one of the forums, not sure which one, that discusses changing seals without removing the fork from the bike. It seemed simple enough to do... I only found it after pulling my forks off.

You could try running a seal mate through them before you go through the trouble..It worked for me, 5 bucks well spent..

Some one suggested just cutting a stip out of a plastic coke/water bottle which I made a little leading edge with a rounded hook which worked fine on the a Rats Nest right fork seal ( new seals on both, right one would leak oil every once in awhile but hold air pressure :head bang: )

That will work too, I think there is even a home made seal mate template on the net somewhere, just sand the edge smooth after cutting, the plastic edge may gouge the seal unless smooth.
