    '81 Interstate rear brakes

I’ve had more bad rear brake luck because of the pedal sticking from rusted pivot points with the pedal. They’re usually a mess to get off the pedal mount. Cleaned up and regrease the pivot point That may not be the problem for a lot of folks but both my brothers 82 as well as my own had it...

    Goldwing video

you can tell they are flogging these things. Shocks flattened out on every bump. Surprisingly enough these old bikes do handle rough roads and gravel amazingly well for their weight. Guess they designed something right.........Fairings luggage and all.

    1984 Interstate Gl1200 won't restart without delaying 30 min

it could go either way I suppose but connections are my first go to. Battery might be bad but if it will jump off a non-running car that may tell you something. Depending on the starter rebuilt or new ones nowadays I've had them cake up inside with carbon and old brush residue that can't escape...

    Left final drive seal.........

For the 82 gl1100 . At least for now can be found at Z1 enterprises. Not NOS but seemed very well made. They seem to be listed as used on another Honda 900 perhaps. I just googled the Honda part number for The GL1100 and these came up. Dry and styling now. Tried all the hub oil remedies etc. no...

    Progressive Spring Questions

I replaced the front and the rear springs with Progressives. The front stopped bottoming out on bumps though it does seem to raise it up a smudge. The rears absolutely helped the ride . No more double whammy's when you go over a bad spot in the road. It's a different bike now.

    triumph rocket touring bike

The mechanic at my dealer said he rode one once. ONCE! He was unnerved by the torque when he revved it up a bit and it rocked him a bit sideways in doing so. The other thing he said that was spooky was the rear tire breaking loose on him when he goosed it a bit at 40 mph went a bit sideways...

    New snap ring pliers

Yeah... the best ones available around here for sure. Looked all over the place for good pliers and that's the ones that didn't aggravate me to death. Most of them at parts stores are just one use if that. They just fold up on you. On the plus side I got good at finding the snap rings after the...

Equality AKA level playing field. Goal or roadblock?

Yeah, after 33 years I was glad to get out. It's tough to watch from the inside as a good place to work is destroyed. A lot of good people were hurt. The company was just so top heavy at the end with umpteen Vice Presidents and the like that it just couldn't function. We made the money it was...

Equality AKA level playing field. Goal or roadblock?

I've been in the construction side of sides most of my working years both in the field and in our prep shop as well as doing bid work and costing for projects. Union shop all those years. The only time we had any problems with guys coasting was usually a managers son-in-law or the like . Most of...

Equality AKA level playing field. Goal or roadblock?

I think there is always going to be an "entitled" class. You know the guy that butts up in line or doesn't mind tricking the other guy out of something. How they do it legally but still in a underhanded way is sick in my opinion. I'm not saying that people should be handed money or things but...

1980 GL1100 Goldwing newbie, Burlington VT

Welcome.....You are in for a major difference but after getting used to it you''ll find out that the wing can be a hoot! I have both and put more miles on the wing for some reason!

PICT 34 carb fuel draining and hydrolocking

My bet is it's coming from the float bowl and siphoning up to the enrichment circuit. The engine would create vacuum to keep the siphon going pretty steady under throttle but the siphon would still exsist as the engine is shut down. It's not streaming .....just a fast drip after shutdown so...

Is mechanical ability a matter of genetics?

More necessity than anything for me. The old man wasn't to mechanically inclined but his dad was one of those guys who could build or repair anything.......! We were just hard up most of my childhood and had to get up early and pump up dads tires on his old Buick with a hand pump. Didn't have...

I bought a Vetter Terraplane that had a Goldwing attached!

My bad,not familiar with your climate! Missouri is a bit different. We have rain, snow, ice, dew, frost, you name it,at times all in the same week. Just hate to see folks kill their machines by trapping moisture. Most places are more prone to this damage. At any rate that is a sweet rig you have...

I bought a Vetter Terraplane that had a Goldwing attached!

Make sure it can get plenty of air to it if you cover it. I wrapped a bike up once for the winter. Really sealed it up nicely and the following spring it looked like someone had traded the most horrible rust bucket ever for the great bike I had covered so well. Decent chrome was ruined...

Rode the old Zuk GS450, WOW does it feel small!

My wife bought one for her first and last bike. She high throttled it( classic mistake ) on our first ride together. Took off from an unlevel driveway and it snapped wrist back to wide open. Hit a telephone pole guy wire and two parked cars. It's a wonder I didn't have a heart attack when it...

    i didn't like it :(

I stopped in and looked at them when they came out. Really loved the new tech that was used on it but when I looked at the seating and the real sparse passenger seating arrangement I said hmmmmm! No thanks! If I put my wife on that passenger griddle with a lightly padded seat she would be ready...

Trikes must feel and drive different!

Is that the one that leans with the suspension so it looks like the bike needs a kickstand but doesn't ? I saw them somewhere online. Interesting concept as it keeps the wheels tilted in a curve etc. Heck of a mod but expensive I think. Seems that the one I saw was a huge thing with a generic...

Trikes must feel and drive different!

Yeah,If you don't like working on them a bit in the down time it takes half the fun out of it. Mines been changed up several different ways but I haven't done the trike thing to it (yet) . The Harley Triglide covers that for me. My 82 wing has been solid as a rock for years for me so most of my...

Trikes must feel and drive different!

You might try letting some air out of the rear tires. I have a Triglide and you only need 20-23 lbs of air in the rear tires.Any slop in your front end will be amplified so check the forks and especially the headstock bearings. Any play there will be exaggerated. You have to get used to it...
