    79 Engine Ticking/Knocking

Hey guys, I've been sick the last few weeks. Some kinda nasty flu has been making it's way through the family. I did a valve adjustment. And loosened the tensioner pulleys and it pulled a decent amt of slack out of the belts. I'll be replacing them this week. I started it and it knocked until I...

    79 Engine Ticking/Knocking

Hey Folks. I pulled the valve covers, timing belt covers, flywheel timing cover, spark plugs, generator cover, and followed the valve adjustment procedure in the manual, and valve/tappet clearances were good. I made some very minor adjustments to a couple of the valves (corrected by turning...

    79 Engine Ticking/Knocking

I'm getting ready to ride my 79 that I've been working on for years now. I've started it a few times and runs (or ran)well. I did a single carb conversion on it, so I'm running the 32dft from Stovebolt. My knowledge of carburetors is fairly limited, but I'm not sure if a poorly tuned carb can...

    1976 GL1000 grab bars needed

Forgive me.. I've always been a little confused on this.. On the GL1000's is the grab bar the curved chrome bar that wraps around the seat from one side to the other?

    Parting Out: 79 GL1000

Everything's in good shape except the engine, it's just a little dirty.. I haven't pulled the block apart but I'm sure there's some usable stuff in there. Let me know if you're looking for something but not seeing it, because it's probably there.. just hiding.

    Parting Out: 79 GL1000

Here are a few pictures.. I'll attach more. The whole bike is being parted out. I pulled the stuff I needed and just need it out of my shop. Looks like the PO broke a valve on 4 and parked it... after he pulled the carbs and put Duct tape over the intakes.. :( Had about 1 inch of rust, dirt...

    Parting Out: 79 GL1000

Had a death in the family so I've been away for a few months.. I'm trying to get rid of some parts and pieces of my parts bike to finance my winter restore project on my own bike. I've got a Windjammer Fairing with Stereo and windshield, trunk, saddlebag brackets (no bags), Hondaline engine...

A simple request. (Be warned, it could be scary.)

I'll probably get a fair amount of flack for this, but I have yet to get one of myself and my bike, but this one's a few years old. Just pretend that's my 79 Wing in the background. :smilie_happy: Second one is my wife and I. Just had family pictures taken a few weeks ago.

    Wanted: GL1000 Headlight assembly

I'm looking for a full headlight assembly for a 79 GL1000. I don't know how much they differ from year to year, but all I have right now is the bucket, and the nuts/bolts for the fork ears. If there's something you need, I'm parting out another 79, so ideally I'd love to work a trade of some...

    Will's 79 Single Carb Conversion

Learned a valuable lesson this weekend about shutting the fuel off. I had a Pepsi bottle IV with a few ounces of fuel in it hanging from my throttle grip and forgot to take it down after I was done working on the beast this wekeend.. went out to hook my choke up and the fuel was gone.. the carb...

Bertha's Single Carb Conversion Chapter Deaux Plus a major transplant revival

Man, that's so good to hear Kraig. I'm really glad things turned around, and glad you're able to ride it, flat spot or not! I'm sure you'll be able to get that ironed out!
