1100 starter ????

a friend of mine just bought a nice 83 interstate but, it came without a starter. the seller said it ran but who knows. can it be push started?? or will the starter gear and chain get tangled up in somethin? dont want to put a bunch of money in it if it dont run. Thanks

i would not run it like that .. id find a starter even a bad one ..if i was going to push start it
