1984 Gl1200 leaky copper exhaust gaskets

Hi I was wondering if the exhaust gsskets have any performance value or just make you less exhausted? I haven't bothered putting in the new gaskets until I am sure I won't be ripping off the exhaust again.

I doubt any true difference will be felt in performance if they're leaking, though sounds crappy and just because of that I feel like mine had less power at the time.

If you run with leaks like that it will burn valves over time
