Can anyone tell me what the hex socket plugs on the right rear of the engine does? Just some wild thinking of maybe a possible place for a oil dipstick, Thanks, Charlie in NC
These are the plugs that seal the oil passages in the case. There are several of them. On some (my '85 LTD fuel injected) engines, the rear plug is removed and the oil pressure switch is installed there. The front plug is replaced with an oil temp sender.
They are under full oil pressure - you don't want to install a dipstick in one!!
