I've been toying around with ideas for colours for the body work of my wing. I really love my Honda candy reds...
My CBR1100XX SUPER BLACKBIRD is candy something red...

Sorry to back the bus up a bit here, but I just have to say your Blackbird is gorgeous! I 110% agree with you that that particular candy color is absolutely stunning.

More to the point, I wish you the best with this Goldwing restoration. Given the time, effort and MONEY that you’ve already put into that frame, I sincerely hope that you find a way to make it work out for you. (It’s only metal).

Romance those molecules and make it work!

I've been slowly ticking away with my 1st 1100. Working on carbs at present. I had them vapour blasted and they came up great. Since then I've stripped each and every carb completely. Shafts out... Everything. The glass media gets in everywhere.
So if you have them vapour blasted be prepared to fully strip and rebuild your carbs.

Carbs look great. Vapour blasting cleans everything up.

Have all the 1200 engine pieces back, and have cleaned up a 1500 rear rim for my 1500. Going to start prepping these for a coat of CERAKOTE MC-5100 Aluminum clear coat. This product is suppose to adhere to a vapour blast finish, as well as a lot of other aluminum finishes. Prep is a good wash with soap and water - DAWN dish soap as per CERAKOTE literature. Will let you know how it goes. Going to clean up the final drive, maybe vapour blast then CERAKOTE. 1500 final drive candidate as well. Maybe use on your carbs and other aluminum parts. Shelf life is 1 year after delivery.

Thanks mate... I'll see if we can get it here in Australia. All my carb parts are getting a dunk in my ultrasonic bath then lots of compressed air before reassembly.
I thought I was going to be up for a lot of work on this Aspencade until I realised I've got most everything done from the 1st 1100. Just need to tidy up frame...

And so it begins.... Again.... Still an 1100 but got an 83 Aspencade.... My wife comes out to the shed and says... Hmmm deja vue.... Seen this before.. Lol...

Finished the engine parts with a coat of CERAKOTE MC-5100 aluminum clear. It has a good finish, flows out nicely, and goes over anything aluminum. Only prep is surface has to be clean, grease free, then washed with dish soap - DAWN - and water. The finish look depends on the surface. The items I have done have a variety of surface finishes and each turns out different. Here are a couple of pics:

That's come up nice. I'm told my paint supplier can cerakote from over in Queensland. Not sure if anyone else here in Perth stocks it...

It's the same as applying a clear coat over paint. MC-5100 is formulated specifically to be used on aluminum products, the company informed me that just about any of its MC products would work. Would spruce up the carbs and engine. I've done this to protect the finish, can't see 90 percent of the engine. Cheers

Had both the aspy heads vapour blasted... Came up schmicko.. So now ive just finished my 1st attempt at "Port and polishing" the heads. Won't be like a pro performance job... Just figured while it's like it is I'd take off the rough bits.
Think they came up pretty good. Couldnt get right into the tight spots but hopefully it helps it go a bit nicer...

Very nice work. Shaming me into doing a lick and promise on the ports. Just cleans everything up. Cheers
Ernest... I just used my dremel and the little sanding barrels. 2 sizes... The small 1 was good for getting to the harder to get places. Once I had done that I got a piece of fine wet n dry sand paper and sanded them the best I could to nice and smooth. Then I used the small scotch brite type wheels and smeared a bit of autosol in the ports and finished of with that.
I dunno if it will make it go any better but the theory is there. Smooth off any deformaties like casting marks. The ports were actually fairly rough so it's gotta be a bit of an improvement...
