I just found an 83 Gl 1100 I fully dressed out and running, a Harley owner got it in a trade and has no use for it, I am bartering some pistols for it sunday, hooya!

The black one is a pic of the 83 Gl I am bartering for, the other pic if it loads is the free one stripped down in my shop.

The fairing, trunk and everything else up on a shelf in my shop, maybe this winter it will arise again and be Queen of the roads, you guys are to blame, I was a happy honda cx owner until I wound up here soon I will own two Goldwings, but at least I will have something to use as a comparison to rebuild the other.

Earlier today I found on ebay some sellers that had gl 1100 case halves, price is good, shipping better, later on I will just swap out the internals to new case halves, does this sound like a feasible plan?

Sounds possible. Just be sure to keep all bearings marked to go right where they are now. I've no idea where you can get new rod or main bearings.

well there are things to check...I cant see ebay gambling very good bet ...seems you have to measure things and match crark codes too im thinking

others might know more here

Remember the original Star Trek series episode "The Menagerie"?
The aliens saved the woman but repaired her injuries not having any clue what a human looked like, well I have no clue of what all doo dads, brackets, switches and wiring is on a proper Goldwing, heck I would have probably just built a rat bike out of what I have.
Actually thats not a bad idea, instead of full dress I would love to build a doomsday apocalyptic Mad Max version of a bike, just to be freakin different. :music2:

Seems like I have two of everything in my life, so sunday i will have a "nice" Goldwing and later on maybe a "naughty" version, car tire on rear, drag bars, open pipes cafe style even.....

Actually I just got myself a video of how to ride a bike in Oz on the other side of the road....
I had to do a double take about how you blokes drive agitator trucks down there, its completely opposite of the way our concrete mixers run here in the states, even the rotation is opposite, and they load in metric.
Yeah my day job is driving a concrete mixer. Pays for my obsessive toys.

Just a couple hours ago I saw a 90 kz1000 ex police bike posted, the guy wants a metal detector for gold here in alaska, funny thing is I bought a whites goldmaster two years ago and used it only a few times, maybe I will get the kz in a trade.
Lots of people selling old bikes here in Alaska all of a sudden.
I am not int kawis but a kz1000 is a decent bike.
